SKIP Cardiff

SKIP Cardiff organise a project typically running for 4 weeks in Livingstone, Zambia, in collaboration with the organisation Dream Livingstone.

About the branch:

The branch’s interventions aim to tackle stigma surrounding sexual health and menstrual hygiene as well as increasing HIV awareness. Interventions are delivered s in schools in the surrounding rural area to students aged 10-18. In addition, following a strong needs assessment in summer 2019, SKIP Cardiff are excited to analyse the data and discover what new interventions could be worthwhile.

The branch’s project interventions include:

  • Sexual health

  • Project Mwezi

  • HIV awareness

  • Consent and Healthy Relationships

There are also plenty of opportunities for volunteers to explore Livingstone and visit the Beautiful Victoria Falls. Whether you’re an adrenaline junky and fancy the bungee jump or would like to kick back and relax by the swimming pool at The Royal Livingstone Resort, there’s something for everyone in Livingstone.

Get involved:

Recruitment for project volunteers is run from September-November each year. The branch run stalls around campus and numerous fundraising events both at the Heath and Cathays Campus at Cardiff University. SKIP Cardiff are also keen to welcome any interested students from Cardiff Metropolitan or University of South Wales. The application form will become available on the branch’s Facebook page in mid-October.
