Trustee - Treasury Lead
Job: MSK Physiotherapist & Staff Physiotherapy Lead (studying for an MSc in Public Health)
SKIP History: I stumbled across the SKIP Cardiff stand at a Fresher's Fayre in 2010 and initially joined as a volunteer. After volunteering on their project in Belarus, I joined the committee as Research & Development Coordinator and went on to become Project Coordinator. During this time I was fortunate enough to go to Zambia twice and to assist in the development of Cardiff's project there. Following graduation I spent 2 years on National Committee as National Volunteers & Welfare Coordinator and National Coordinator. I joined the Board of Trustees in 2015 as Secretary and became the Trustee responsible for Treasury in 2016.
Role Responsibilities: In my role I am responsible for ensuring SKIP is compliant with, and meets, charity regulations in order to ensure the continued financial and legal protection of the charity. I work closely with the National Treasurer to ensure we have a robust financial structure and that we support our Branches in their financial operations. I am continually striving to improve our financial systems within SKIP.
SKIP Highlights: My involvement with SKIP to date has been a string of highlights. I have had the most amazing experiences in the UK and abroad and continue to work alongside some of the most inspiring people I know. SKIP is unique in its empowerment of students and its members, and I am truly thankful for everything that it has given me so far. SKIP has provided me with numerous transferable skills and held the door open to opportunities I would never have known existed. It is fair to say that SKIP, more than anything else, has facilitated my personal and professional development. I would encourage anyone to become involved and make the most of all the opportunities it offers you!
