Volunteer with SKIP
“SKIP has been one of the most influential forces in my life to date and I can't imagine who or where I'd be without it!”
There are many ways to volunteer with SKIP - be it by volunteering on a summer project or joining a branch committee.
Once you’ve gained experience as a SKIP member, further opportunities are available on the National Committee, as Supporting Alumni, or on the Board of Trustees!
Volunteer on a Summer Project
Volunteering is an amazing experience. SKIP offers the chance for you to make an impact on the lives of some of the poorest and most vulnerable children in world.
SKIP is about much more than just going abroad though - throughout the year your branch will fundraise, develop their project for the summer ahead, organise volunteer training and attend our brilliant national events!
SKIP does not charge volunteers to join their projects, but volunteers are required to fund their own travel and living expenses when on project and to pay a small membership fee. All money raised during the year as a branch goes directly to fund interventions on project.
Volunteer with your University: Check out our branches and find out how to contact them!
Volunteer Externally: If you are interested in volunteering on a project, but your University doesn’t have a SKIP branch, apply via our External Volunteer Scheme! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to get started!
Join a Branch Committee
There are various roles available on each SKIP branch committee, such as Project Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary, Publicity, Fundraising, Welfare, Research & Development and Training.
Branch application processes vary but positions are always democratically elected. You do not need to have been a SKIP volunteer nor do you need any experience in the role - SKIP will provide all the training needed! However, it is essential that you have lots of enthusiasm and boundless SKIP energy.
Being on a branch committee is great fun as well as an ideal opportunity to develop skills and experiences essential for your CV. If you are interested in applying to a branch committee, please contact the branch or email email@example.com for more information.
Join the National Committee
“Throughout SKIP I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most supportive people I’ve ever met. On the National Committee I have developed skills such as training, teamwork, leadership, time management, delegation and most of all my confidence. Skills which will be essential in my future job and will benefit me for years to come.”
