Spring Big Weekend 2019!
The conference included presentations from each of our branches about their work that had already taken place and their plans for the summer 2019 project.
Members attended role networking and branch planning - a great opportunity for everyone to meet each other, learn from others’ experiences and plan for the rest of the year.
We held two sets of “Training Tracks”, where attendees could choose which workshop they went to: from Child Protection to Culture on Project, and from Facilitating Inspirational Debriefs to How to Carry Out and Assess Methods of Data Collection.
Our keynote speech was delivered by Dr Emma Laurie, lecturer at the University of Glasgow. Her engaging presentation explored her doctoral research in Tanzania on the embodied politics of health.
Our National Global Health Lead Chaitra ran an interesting Global Health Workshop on health systems, which included a creative role play!
The National Committee Update run by National Coordinator Sarah Hopkins-Weaver focused on the upcoming elections for the 2019-20 National Committee, Mentors and Supporting Alumni.
Our National Fundraising Coordinator, Holly, gave us an update on her hard work in fundraising this year, including initiating Payroll Giving, and the new fundraising tool for recording branch fundraising.
On the Saturday evening, we all had a fantastic three course meal followed by the annual BlueBoy Awards and then a ceilidh!
Everyone had a fantastic time and a big thank you to all those involved in the weekend’s organisation and smooth running.
